Don’t Envy the Unsaved

Posted: July 29, 2011 in devotion, inspiration, religion

Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.
James 4:4

A good friend of mine told me , “Jonathan, being a Christain is like being married… You either are married or you’re not”. A lot of people today like to be both at the same time… You know, have their cake and eat it to. Why not they say, just one little bite won’t hurt… Come on Jonathan, this won’t bring you down. Some envy the wicked. I myself have asked God why He doesn’t punish the bad behavior of others and why can’t I have that Corvette instead? Why do they have to have the big expensive cars and the nice 4 bedroom house. Why Lord can they have children but, I cannot? Why am I being punished instead? Oh… “why”?  Very common question to add too… come on, how many of you ask, “why?”

Well, as James 4:5 tells us, “What do you think the Scriptures mean when they say that the spirit God has placed within us is filled with envy?” But he gives us even more grace to stand against such evil desires.” As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but favors the humble.” The Lord loves His faithfull children and punishes the wicked in His time. Perhapes not too soon because God has a plan. Maybe He needs to bring that sinner to his knees before he repents. Maybe that load of luxury has been given to that person to test them. Remember “He without Sin, cast the first stone.”

James 4:6 also reminds us, “so humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.”

God Bless and keep your heads up and remember we are not planted or rooted here on earth. We all need to shake off our depression, our envy and our wants and trust in our Lord that He will provide to us what We need to do His will.

So in closing my brothers and sisters, if you have a want or need and you don’t know what to do, I have your answer, pray to God.  If you are broke and you don’t know where your next check will come from, pray to God.  If you are in pain, pray to God.  If you are sick, pray to God.  You know why?  When we put all our faith in our Lord, it proves we are servents are obedient to His will and all works out to the will of the Lord in His time.  So, wait on the Lord and trust, have faith and remember, waiting only makes you stronger!
