And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him.  Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
Colossians 2:6-7

My wife and I have been looking around at homes to buy recently. We have seen dozen’s of houses, but haven’t found the right one. Either because of structural flaw’s or the location. So, we have been talking a lot lately with our Pastor about buying or the possibility of building a house. He had mentioned that he had built his home from the ground up. He said he purchased the land and when it was the right time, he drew up the plans and designed and built his home. This had me in awe… and it got me thinking.

The most important process with any project, such as building a home, is the foundation. You have to ask yourself a few questions about the foundation before you start building. Such as, where the land is located. I mean, you don’t want to build your home on land that is on a flood plain. You have to ask what type of foundation does your land have? Like the possibility that your soil has chemical deposit’s or toxins that can make you sick or worse. Building you home on a good, solid foundation is key. Honestly now, would you want to build your house on a land fill? Would you honestly start building a home in the middle of a swamp?

The same goes for us Christians about out Spiritual building on a good foundation of Jesus Christ. We need a healthy diet of the Word of God, the Bible. Followed by regular communion with your church or a study group to fellowship with other Christian’s in the Lord.

I hear constantly, that you don’t have to go to church and yes, that maybe true that you do have to, but as it is written in Hebrew’s 10:25, “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Spiritual building, not only builds good bonds with other believers, but more importantly, it strengthen’s your relationship with God. And as Ephesians 6:11 says, “Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.”

Remember, having a firm foundation in Christ is key to any success we have in this life, but more importantly, in the next as well.  Be strong in your faith and be happy the we have the Lord on our side.

God Bless,

Brother Jonathan
