Jesus instructed His disciples by saying, “ shouldn’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that I, the Son of Man, can give you. For God the Father has sent me for that very purpose.”
John 6:27

When you look around at nature and notice all the beauty it has to offer, you have to be in awe at the beauty… I know I am. When I see the tree’s, the grass, the sky and the animals in it, I feel at peace knowing that our Lord created and cares for and looks after all that is in it. God provides plentifully for the nature and provides what they need. It comforts me to know that Jesus tells us not to worry about food either because He provides what we need to do the Father’s will.

When we read John 6:3-15, we come on the scene of where Jesus feeds 5,000 men and a un-numbered amount of women and children as well with only 5 barley loaves and 2 fish:

Then Jesus went up into the hills and sat down with his disciples around him.  (It was nearly time for the annual Passover celebration.)

Jesus soon saw a great crowd of people climbing the hill, looking for him. Turning to Philip, he asked, “Philip, where can we buy bread to feed all these people?” He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do. Philip replied, “It would take a small fortune to feed them!” Then Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up.

There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd? Tell everyone to sit down,” Jesus ordered. So all of them — the men alone numbered five thousand — sat down on the grassy slopes.

Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks to God, and passed them out to the people. Afterward he did the same with the fish. And they all ate until they were full. “Now gather the leftovers,” Jesus told his disciples, “so that nothing is wasted.” There were only five barley loaves to start with, but twelve baskets were filled with the pieces of bread the people did not eat!

Wow… Amazing! Jesus instructed His disciples to gather the leftover’s that people did not eat because they where full from only 5 barley loaves and 2 fish. This is by definition, a miracle and is just a tiny inkling of what our Lord can do. That is why He reminds us in John 6:27, “you shouldn’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that I, the Son of Man, can give you.”

We need to stop putting our trust in man and put all our trust in God. As Jesus says, in Matthew 10:39, “if you give up your life for me, you will find it.” Give up and give in, that’s today’s task. Try to give up something you normally hold on to and give it to God. No, he does not need your Dunkin Donuts coffee, or your McDonald’s sandwich, but you know who does? Those of us who go without everyday. Perhaps God’s will for you today is to help a starving brother or sister out. What is God’s will for you? What is the call that God has on your life? Do you know? I have a suggestion for you, try to listen with your heart and hear God’s call on your life. Let God guide you on your journey. Good luck and God Bless!
