Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil ? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever?
– 2 Corinthians 6:14-15

As a kid I was always reminded not to hang out with certain people growing up. Ever heard of the saying, you are who you associate with? Or my favorite, “guilty by association?” Well, I would always try to make friends with the right people, yet, I always found it hard to identify who the right people really where and it always would seem that I chose the right person, yet, it was only a matter of time before we both landed in detention.

In 2 Corinthians 6:15 we find Paul reminding his friends to cleanse their humanly bodies from temptation and idolatry when we read, “What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil ? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever?” Paul was warning his friends in Corinthians that they needed to make a choice. Live for God or, become His enemy. Devote your life to the Lord or perish.

In life, we make tough decisions everyday for either, good or bad. Do I cut this person off and possibly cause a terrible accident or do I let him go in front of me? Do I open my book to find the correct answer during my closed book exam or should I have studied a little more instead? Do I remain faithful to deceit and lies or should I break free from the bondage?

A few weeks ago, I had a conversation with a good friend and brother from my church New Life Fellowship. We where talking about choice’s and he said something to me that really struck a chord deep in my heart. He told me that while he was having His alone time with the Lord, the Lord had asked him a question. He said the Lord had asked, “Do you know who’s will is stronger than Mine?” My friend told me that he  was taking back and pondered at the question and then asked the Lord, “Who’s will can be strong than Yours Lord?” He said, the Lord answered, “Yours.”

You see, God gives all of us the choice, everyday. We have the freedom to chose between what is right and what is wrong. It may sound strange that our will can be stronger than the Lord’s, but I want you to really think about it. Think of it this way. If  God had the ultimate willpower over us, why then do we have the terrible crimes that we have today? Why do we have people murdering each other, raping each other, child abuse and all the other terrible crimes we have today?

We all have the power and the to choice between good and evil? We all have a choice, everyday. What choice will you make. What side will you choose to be on? I know the answer seems to be obvious to the question, but honestly ask yourself this and remember; You maybe saved… Born again… Baptized in Jesus Christ. But, I want to remind you, that this does not mean you can’t fall from salvation. We all have a choice to make. We all have the option to choose our destiny. What choice will you make?

God Bless,
Brother Jonathan

God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor—not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways.
1 Thessalonians 4:4-5

Recently, I attended the Iron Sharpen’s Iron, Men’s conference in Bloomfield, Connecticut and I must admit, it really had an impact on me and it opened my eyes to the steps of life in regards to, “Manhood.” One of the speaker’s addressed the, “journey on the road of a man,” and portrayed this journey by showing us the steps one must take to get their. The bottom step was, “Boyhood.” The second step was, “Adolescence.” The third step was, “Manhood.” The four step was, “Mentor.” The final step was, “Patriarch.”

The speaker said, many men jump between the steps of “Boyhood” and “Adolescence” and sometimes, sadly, never leave those steps. Then he said something that really hit close to home. He said, the only way to really step-up to “Manhood,” is to fall on your knee’s, put your hands together, admit you are broken and with proper guidance, you can then step-up to “Manhood,” through the power of the Lord. Then… with much growth in God, you become a “Mentor” to the youth, teaching and guiding them with their lifes and their walks with God.

But today sadly, both, men and women suffer from the effects of not having been properly mentored in their youth’s and adolescence from a good man of God to show them how to properly step up to “adulthood.” A lot of these men and women are more susceptible to fall into sin and as the speaker said, a lot of these men and women fill our jail systems today.

There are several strong temptations in the world today, but sexual sin is a struggle that a lot of men, women and sadly, children all struggle with, on a daily basis. And, if we allow ourselves to fall into that temptation, it cut’s us off from the glory of the Lord.

That’s what we find Paul telling us, when we read 1 Thessalonians 4:4-5, “God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin.” He was warning us here, but he then goes on to say, “Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor—not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways

Paul knew that, our bodies our the temple of the Lord. As Paul says in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, “Your body is His temple.” And we are to keep ourselves pure before the Lord.

Sexual sin is not an easy temptation to defeat by yourselves. Any sin, for that matter is not easy to defeat on your own. You have to realize, that you are sinning. You have to have a yearning to change. For some of us, we must be completely broken before we realize this. But, when we come to this realization, we can then turn to God with a true repentant heart. A broken heart. And, then, the Holy Spirit can start the process to purify you once again. To set you free and break the chains of sin.

If you have yet to receive the Lord Jesus into your lives, I want you to put your hands together right now and pray with me. “Lord, I know I am lost without you. I come to you completely broken. I come to you with all my heart and I give myself to you. I need you in my life. Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and Savior, as my God, Amen.”

If you just prayed this prayer for the first time, congratulations! I now want you to get to a good bible based, God-fearing church and get baptized into the Lord, Jesus Christ and start your journey and your walk with the Lord.

God Bless you all as we part are ways today.

Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Ephesians 6:10

During most of my childhood, we lived in California. One day, I was walking down the street with my newly acquired six-shooter cap guns, a little holster, and a little cowboy hat, feeling very good. But there were some hoodlums standing on the corner who took notice of the little cowboy. They started pushing me around, knocked off my hat, and confiscated my gun belt and cap pistols. Devastated, I went home and found my sister, who is 3 years older than me. She went with me to get my things back, and all of a sudden, I was feeling courageous. My sister was bigger than me—and them. So I retrieved my cap guns and holster, and it felt really good. The problem was that I had to keep my sister with me from that point on, lol.

We can have greater boldness in spiritual battle when we know we are standing with the Lord. Ephesians 6:10 tells us, “Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Or literally, “Strengthen yourselves in the Lord.” In our own strength, we are no match for the devil. We don’t want to engage him. Just as the police call for backup when they need to, we need to do the same.

That is why the devil wants to separate us from our power base. His chief aim is to get between us and God and to inspire confidence in ourselves. But Jesus Christ himself is in our corner. Romans 8:33 says, “Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself.”

God is with us. We are not taking on the enemy in our own strength; we are standing in the Lord and in His mighty power. So be strong and confident in everything you do because we are on the winning side. In closing my brothers and sisters: Today, reflect on yourself and what tempts you. Think about it hard and if you know what that one thing or things are, focus on how you are going to overcome it. Focus on a game-plan and stick to it.

Good luck and God Bless you as we part our ways today.
